In conjunction with Rory of ASP Design this WordPress based site is a launch pad for the newly formed not-for-profit Historic Places Aotearoa.

This implementation provides a category based security solution to manage branch societies and a custom post type for slides in the slide show.

Central Magazine Website

Kym and Michaels new venture the “Central Magazine” needed a website pronto as the first issue was at the printers. We used WordPress and created a custom theme from Kym’s design.

The front page uses a WordPress custom post type so the client can easily manage the slides.

The Shannon Company Relaunch

In this job we took a design prepared by the client and created a new Joomla template to fit the existing content. As the main navigation elements, and the site structure, changed a lot of massaging the content was necessary.

The template users Jquery with the excellent Colorbox and Cycle modules for some custom slideshow and popup actions. It alo uses CSSPie to extend some CSS3 attributes.

Podiatry NZ Website

This is an ongoing project to create an internet home for Podiatry New Zealand. We used Drupal to build this site for the customization possibilities into the future as e-Learning and online payment features are planned.

We created a custom Drupal module for search and used the location/mapping modules for listings, we also used the excellent Mailchimp module to provide the administrator with an intuitive interface for mail list management.

Custom Slideshow

This was a fun project to create a custom slideshow and embed it in an existing Joomla site. We used the Jquery Cycle and Easing plugins to create a reusable slideshow instance that can be used on any page.

The slideshow also features active page numbering along the top and “previous”, “play/pause” and “next” controls below.

Cassels Brewery Christchurch

Cassels makes the best beer in Christchurch and it is great to see their establishment humming as an escape from earthquake life.

In order to keep in contact with their clientele they needed a fast website development, we used Drupal to future proof their requirements and knocked up a custom template in only a few weeks.

No custom modules were required for this build, but we did make some custom views to get the Events side of things working well.

Google map with markers from Google Spreadsheets

I’ve always liked Google more than Facebook as an Internet Overlord, and this is why. Google makes fantastic tools available to anybody, they go to great lengths and effort, and generally the tools are free.

This is an example I created a few weeks ago, using the GoogleMaps API and a Google Spreadsheet as a datasource this page (embedded in a WordPress site) shows a map with markers for all the On The Road participating recycling and transfer stations.

The markers are easily editable by Wastebusters (who run the program) through the standard Google Spreadsheets interface.

www.cafe.gen.nz – Drupal !

CAfE is the Christchurch Agency for Energy, and the site is well worth having a look around. In this project I implemented a design and spec for www.agency.net.nz, the theme was branched from the Drupal base theme and there was a bit of Jquery trickery for the slideshow. I also used Google Web Fonts – a fantastic resource changing the way the web looks.

This is my first production Drupal 7 site. I have to say, while it hurt a little coming from Joomla/Wordpress it was all worth it and more. Drupal is a wonderfully powerful ecosystem, I’m looking forward to doing some more sites using it.

A site for my Mum

This was my first WordPress site a few years ago for my Mum, a fabric artist as well as many other wonderful things.

I just did a quick update to the latest version and cleaned up the template a bit. WordPress is a fantastically quick way to get a comprehensive CMS up and running, and if Mum can use it, anybody can :-)

Email Newsletter Templates

HTML and CSS for email is always a bit of a nightmare – there are many email clients and not all of them behave. In the last few weeks I created a couple of fairly basic themes for Campaign Monitor, an excellent email newsletter manager. It feels like a step back into the dark ages having to use

again for layout, just shows how far we have come I guess.
